What follows is a summary concerning the origins and the islamic ruling on celebrating St Valentine’s Day written by the noble brother Abu Aneesa Abdulkabir from the city of Bamenda in Cameroon. May Allah reward him well. Ameen

Given that the celebration of the said festival has protruded into the ranks of the Muslims, i considered to pen down these few pages with the aim of making its reality understood and the Islamic values installed. In achieving this, I have presented the origin of Valentine’s Day and likewise the Islamic viewpoint on it under the light of the Qur’an, Sunnah and the statements of the outstanding Islamic scholars. I have titled this piece of work “Valentine’s day – its origin and the Islamic ruling on celebrating it”.
